TCEDA is the first point of contact for businesses and site selectors exploring opportunities to invest and establish operations in Tuolumne County.
TCEDA's business retention and expansion (BRE) program works to identify, propose, and implement programs that facilitate the expansion and retention of existing businesses.
TCEDA offers support to small businesses and entrepreneurs through its partnerships with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Tuolumne County SCORE.
I would like to offer my strong endorsement of Larry Cope as an excellent representative for economic growth and development in our rural community. Since Larry has arrived on the scene, Tuolumne County has experienced noticeable economic growth in all sectors. This is not a coincidence. Larry “hit the ground running,” and has not stopped. He has energy, passion, and believes in the entrepreneurial spirit of our great community and country.
The TCEDA and Larry Cope have been an invaluable resource and means of support for Kinematic virtually from the earliest days of its existence. From suggesting sources for government grants to steering potential business opportunities our way, TCEDA has been a continual source of useful support and information.
Larry is my go-to person whenever I have a question or need help with something business related.
I have had the pleasure of working with Larry Cope over the last several years and find him to be a very motivated and outstanding individual. He has been very active in the economic expansion and retention of jobs in Tuolumne County including ideas that help provide opportunity for new ideas for business including the development of the Innovation Lab. Larry is not afraid to get his hands dirty to get the job done and goes above and beyond the responsibilities of his job.
In Tuolumne County, we are pleased that we have an economic development authority that is actively engaged
in assisting businesses to succeed. When Sierra Pacific Industries (SPI) decided to replace our sawmill in Standard, Larry Cope, CEO of the TCEDA, worked with our team every step of the way. He fully understood the importance of working forest and that SPI’s sawmill infrastructure creates jobs, healthy forests and recreational opportunities, which have substantial economic benefits to the region. Building a sawmill is a monumental undertaking and through the efforts of Larry and the county we were able to stay on schedule and cut costs.
The TCEDA has been able to focus on specific economic development opportunities within the county. In particular, under Larry Cope’s leadership, this focus has been targeted and followed through step by step from start to finish with each business coming in to the County. The TCEDA has also been available to work with each arm of the County and/or City to make the pathways easier for these new businesses. This success has been even more remarkable as this has been achieved in a rural area and during the worst years of the recession. For any local business wishing to expand, or for any new business to be attracted to the county, the TCEDA has created an efficient ‘one-stop shop’.
The TCEDA helped our company by organizing an initial high-level meeting of the relevant stakeholders when our company was beginning a permitting process with the County. Larry knew which individuals would be necessary to have in the meeting, and how to get them there. His office hosted the conference, and it was a success. Larry always knows what's going on in the County. He always has many irons in the fire, and many great ideas in the works. He's just a bundle of energy directed towards economic growth and development!
Larry is a plethera of knowledge and very passionate about what he does. He is very committed to providing the best service to his clients as he possibly can and if he doesn't have the answers, he'll find someone who does! It is very obvious Larry has deep and detailed knowledge of his work.
